Testimony/Karl

My birth into this world occurred when I was very young.  And the same can be said for my second birth.  Yes, I was young on my spiritual birthday, when I was “born again” from above.  Being born that second time is what Jesus said is necessary to be part of the kingdom of heaven.  If you put your complete trust in the work of Christ on the cross, you shall have eternal life.

It was after the volunteers brought us back to the lodge for pizza from an all-day outing with us kids that they shared the “plan of salvation”.  The bible conference had frequently shared the “plan” with us, but it really didn’t have an impact on me until they explained the reality of hell for unbelievers.  I knew I did not want to go there.  I knew Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead to keep me from going there.  So as a nine year old boy, I repented of my unbelief, and asked Jesus to “save me”.  I was born again.

I have been a member of Harbor Bible Fellowship for over 30 years and have seen many different people enter those doors.  I could talk about the softball teams we had at the church, the great times of fellowship they gave.  Or about the picnics we have at the park, how they are a time of refreshing and time with one another.  Even about the times working on the building, putting in drop-ceilings or painting the place and how fulfilling it is to help out.  But I rather talk about what needs to be done.

Our church supports missions in far away countries, so that people can hear the gospel and make disciples of them.  And we need to continue that, even more so now.  But what has caught my attention lately is the fact that we as a church must be missionaries in New Jersey.  Somehow I separated the goals of the local church from those of missions.  We are here for the people in the area and I want to minister to them through this church.  I want to support our church because Christ uses the church to do the Fathers will.  Thank God for Harbor Bible Fellowship Church and the work He is doing here.
